The vineyard supper club you need to visit

Stuck for fun ideas on a Friday evening? Well, look no further. Albourne Estate is hosting another series of street food pop-ups several Friday nights this summer and we couldn’t be more excited.

If you’ve not been to this family-owned winery before, this is a perfect opportunity to have a glass of their tasty vino – they also keep their tasting room open – and meander through the vineyard. Nestled in the rolling hills of the South Downs, the scenery is pretty impressive and we can see why the great British vineyard is having a moment right now.

With a festival-style atmosphere, there’s bags of room outside for kids to run around and a petanque pitch for those who are up for a bit of competitive fun. Bring a big blanket to graze on the grass or perch up on one of the picnic tables under the sheltered tipi if it gets a little drizzly.

Street food trucks include the likes of Cairovan who serve delicious Egyptian street food like wraps packed to the max with locally sourced lamb and chicken or falafel and halloumi fries.

If hot gooey raclette cheese is more your thing, then Specs and Bear (@specsandbear) will get your mouth watering. Layered over herby potatoes and topped with either beef or vegan chilli and lashings of homemade toppings, it’s guaranteed to melt (and, let’s be honest, potentially clog) your heart.

Some nights even come with a side of live music!

Chef Dan Matthews BBQ – 2nd June
Paella Inc – 9th June (book in advance to make sure you get the paella you want)
Cairovan – 23rd June
The BBQ Project with Ellie Parkside – 30th June
Specs & Bear – 7th July
Safari Pizza – 14th July
Cairovan – 21st July
Paella Inc – 11th August
Specs & Bear – 18th August
Safari Pizza with live music from Sistie Moose – 25th August
Cairovan – 1st September
Chef Dan Matthews BBQ – 8th September

You can book yourself a table, but even if these are sold out, you can still turn up and eat on the grass – there’s heaps of space.

Albourne is just a 15-minute drive from Brighton or you can hop in a taxi from Hassocks, the nearest train station. Enjoy!

Fridays until 8th September; 4pm – 9pm
Albourne Farm, Shaves Wood Lane, Albourne, Hassocks, West Sussex, BN6 9DX
