You may have spotted that Brighton seafront's Shelter Hall is almost at the end of its restoration. With this week's new government guidelines announcing that pubs and restaurants can reopen from 4th July (cue the national whoop), they'll be opening their doors to a much anticipated pop-up food hall, as Shelter Hall Raw. It's the perfect festival vibe to add to the already buzzing seafront. The good news is that along with some of the city's favourite food, Shelter Hall Raw will be bringing 70 new jobs too. A great little pick me up after a challenging year for the industry. The space has undergone a bit of a design transformation to make sure that the dining experience meets Covid-19 social distancing and safety guidelines, so that guests can feel safe as they munch on some the city's best food. So... which of your favourite local food and drink brands can you expect to see trading there? There will be a pretty hot line up (in more ways than one!), as the space welcomes up to ten of the city's favourite traders at a time. Make some room for Fatto a Mano, Lost Boys Chicken, Carlito Burrito, Brighton Coffee Works and Toasted by GB Charcuterie and Smorls, to name just a few. You'll be able to eat in or take-away and enjoy it on the beach! Led by Session Market’s CEO Dan Warne (pictured on the left in the featured image with Tomas Samandi, Founder of Lost Boys Chicken), previously managing director at Deliveroo, Shelter Hall Raw have an emphasis on seasonality and fresh artisan produce, supporting local businesses by using the space to showcase an impressive line-up. Opening on Saturday 4th July, the space will be open Monday to Thursday from 11.00am until 11.00pm, closing at midnight on Friday and Saturdays (hello new foodie social life) and 9.00pm on Sunday. We are VERY excited... can you tell? You'll also be able to grab coffee and ice cream on the terrace outside between 9.00am and 7.00pm every day too. They are forward thinking when it comes to food waste and sustainable packaging too, teaming up with non-profit friends of BOTI, Brighton & Hove Food Partnership. They have plenty of signage, bins and recycling facilities in place too, to keep waste to a minimum and make sure the beach is free from their waste. They are making it easy for us Brighton, so let's keep it clean. We, for one, are very happy that the Brighton & Hove hospitality scene is back. See you in the socially distanced queue!
