Things to do this weekend | 24th – 26th November

The temperature’s dropped, Brighton’s starting to get a little bit sparkly and we’re slowly getting those festive feels. Need some inspo for weekend fun? For starters, you can get your hands on a free scoop of ice-cream on Friday (no, you’re wrong, it’s never too cold); get a sweat on at what is, quite literally, the hottest quiz in town; spot the Santa bus as Father C starts travelling around the city on his lightmobile; join Ruby Moon for yoga, swimming, music and good vibes; or explore the wonder of the light trail at Wakehurst’s botanical garden. Not to mention bidding a sad farewell to the flock of the sheep that have been brightening up our streets. What else? You’ll have to keep reading…

Get free pizza and pasta as popular Italian eatery reopens

Nanninella is reopening as a take-away restaurant on Saturday and, to celebrate, the family-run Italian on Preston Street is giving away Neapolitan classic Pasta e Patate. They’re cooking up a tonne of the carb-laden dream, but we’d get down there prontissimo if we were you as when it’s gone, it’s gone. They’ll also be selling slices of their excellent pizza, plus street food, pastries and Italian deli treats.

Boost your spirits with a community sea swim

Want to experience the joy-giving benefits of sea swimming, but don’t want to do it on your own? Maybe you just fancy sitting in the water or dipping a toe in to get you started, especially given the rather chilly temperatures right now (around 12C). Then you might like to join the friendly gang at Hove Mental Health Swims. There’s no pressure to get in if you don’t feel like it – you can just sit on the beach and have a chat if you prefer. Sign up here or head down on the day. Look out for their pink pirate flag flying on the middle of the beach closest to the Hove Lawns sign by the Hove Lawns Cafe, but keep an eye on their socials as if it’s a bit hairy out there, it will get postponed.
