boti’s favourite christmas fairs

There’s something rather magical about a Christmas market, especially when you realise you can support gorgeous local and sustainable indie designer-makers AND do all your Christmas shopping in one place.

On that note, if you haven’t been yet, the Stanley Road Department Store is open until Christmas and is a fabulous one-stop shop for buying unique gifts straight from their creators.

Read on for our favourite Christmas markets coming up in Brighton and beyond. Please note, these are in date order, not in order of how much we love them!

Brighton

Brighton Open Market Christmas Markets
There are often great pop-ups on at the Open Market and they’ve ramped them up for Christmas. Head over London Road way for their very first Vegan Christmas Market on Saturday 17th. Think all kinds of sweet and savoury plant-based food, gifts, cards (Lisa Holdcroft will be there with her gorgeous Brighton cards), and more.

Florence Road Christmas Makers’ Market
We’ve loved Florence Road Market for years and we’re obviously not the the only ones – the weekly outdoor farmer’s market is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion and, you know, ‘cos it’s Christmas, this must-visit foodie spot is going even bigger. In addition to the usual local produce, bakes and brews, there will be more street food, drinks a-plenty and all the festive feels with Christmas trees and live music. And a special makers’ market! Artist Joanna Myles has curated a brilliant selection of makers and artists for an indoor market in the run-up to the big day. If you’re looking for a new veg box, now’s the time – buy one of theirs and they’ll give away two to food banks and families in need.
Saturday 17th and 24th December; 9.30am – 1.30pm
Corner of Florence Road and Southdown Avenue, Brighton BN1 6DL

Church of the Annunciation Community Hall Christmas Fairs
The community hall (the former snooker club) next to the Church of the Annunciation in Hanover is holding its first ever Christmas fairs this year. Pop by to see local makers’ wares, including some very tasty bakes. It’s the perfect opportunity for a cheeky pub crawl and a peek at all the local decorated windows. Especially this one.
Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th December; 10am – 4pm; free
89 Coleman Street, Brighton BN2 9SQ

Beau Natural Craft Fairs
Artisan craft fair regular Beau Natural is well-known (and loved) for its central location and a brilliantly eclectic mix of local indie makers. Think everything from knitted accessories to quirky jewellery, unusual eye masks and vibrant pottery.
Saturday 17th December; 11am – 5pm; free
The Unitarian Church, New Road, Brighton BN1 1UF
