watch lloyd webber’s ‘love never dies’ for free this weekend

So many of our favourite cultural institutions are at it! Streaming their productions for free, that is.

The National Theatre’s streaming some of its best-loved productions (its Frankenstein this week) while you can get your Shakespeare fix via the Royal Shakespeare Company’s online options or The Globe’s at home channel. But what if you’re missing musical theatre?

Lloyd Webber to the rescue! New YouTube channel The Shows Must Go On is streaming a whole heap (what’s the collective noun for theatre shows?) of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s masterpieces.

This weekend is the turn of Lloyd Webber’s Albert Hall 50th birthday celebration – yep, the full 81 minutes. The show pays tribute to Lloyd Webber’s best-loved musicals, featuring hits from favourites, such as Starlight Express, Evita, Cats, Phantom of the Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar, and more.

You’ll be able to watch the full stage show for free for 48 hours after it goes live at 7.00pm this Friday evening.

And if you’d like to buy it (or any of the other musicals that have been streamed on the channel, e.g. the big ones like Joseph, Phantom, etc.) to watch later, you can do so here from YouTube movies.

Watch the musical here.
