After a string of openings across the UK, Louisiana fried chicken shop Popeyes is now launching in Brighton and, to celebrate, they’re giving away a year’s supply of their famous chicken sandwiches to three people!
Yep, those same chicken sandwiches that broke the internet in 2019 when the brand launched a new fried chicken sandwich to compete with fellow US chicken brand Chick Fil-A.
Taste-test videos flooded social media and the company’s three-month supply sold out in just two weeks with people queuing around the block to try to get their hands on one. Apparently Beyoncé used to love it so much that they gave her a lifetime membership card.
Not familiar? The crispy sandwich features original Southern biscuits (for their famous ‘shatter crunch’) and gravy, British chicken breast marinated for 12 hours in South Louisiana’s bold Cajun seasonings, fresh pickles and creamy mayo and can be ordered in either the classic style or spicy.
Tempted? All you need to do to get your hands on the free chicken goodness is be one of the first three people in the queue when they throw their doors open on Saturday 10th December – that will get you a cheque that’ll entitle you to a year’s supply of those chicken sarnies.
And even if you don’t manage to snag a place right at the very front of the queue, if you’re in the first 50, you’ll get a free chicken sandwich and a Popeyes T-shirt.
Plus, Mardi Gras-style band The Brass Funkeys will be there to play the first customers into the restaurant, in true Lousiana style.
Popeyes did a similar giveaway when they opened their Liverpool store last month and people queued from 10pm the night before to secure a spot, so it sounds like it’s one for the super fans!
