third avenue in hove reopens with new look

Set on the corner of Church Road and Third Avenue in Hove, Third Avenue, the once classic cafe-restaurant has been given a new lease of life. Step in off the road and you’ll find yourself immersed in a buzzy bar giving off classic French bistro vibes. Walls adorned with artwork take you on a journey as you move through the room, from Art Deco to postmodernism.

Head down on Friday or Saturday nights and you’ll be treated to live music on the terrace – jazz set the tone nicely on opening night – giving you another very ‘Hove’ way to wind down after a busy week. There are cocktails, drinks and small plates at hand, all just a stone’s throw from the seafront and Lawns.

They’re already serving up a pretty bouji brunch (think confit duck leg and duck’s egg waffles), and their new fish-focused restaurant within the venue is set to open at the end of July. The small but comfy space – going by the new name of Catch and Grill – will also have a fresh fish counter visible from the window front to tempt in passers-by.

It’s a whole new feel to Third Avenue with the bar-lounge concept and dining experience, and one that’s well worth a visit. With its inviting terrace, it’s hard to miss, too – we reckon it’s the perfect spot for a few summer sundowners.
