kickass women event returns for international women’s day

This is the fourth edition of this day-long programme of talks and workshops at Platf9rm’s Hove co-working space and it’s looking to be just as good as its predecessors this year.

So what can you expect? For starters, you’ll have the chance to get stuck in to an interactive workshop on flipping the gender stats and listen to awe-inspiring stories from brilliant women doing brilliant things on their journeys to making our world more equitable, for everyone.

Just some of the women on the varied bill for 2023 include UN social affairs officer Gemma Kentish; founder of the UK’s first female-focused recruitment agency in the private security sector, Lisa Baskott; University of Sussex research fellow Dr Carlie Goldsmith; and football writer and broadcaster Nicky Bandini.

What else? Freelance producer and mentor Daisy Church will host a Gen Z panel exploring a variety of themes, including the meaning of equity and how tomorrow’s leaders are embracing it, the negative impact that living in a patriarchy has on men, and what would happen if we instead lived in a matriarchal society.

You’ll also be fed and watered – breakfast, lunch and snacks – courtesy of some of our favourite local eateries, such as The Flour Pot Bakery, Yolk and Cielo, and there will be a pop-up makers’ and artists’ marketplace, too.

Last year’s programme finished with a closing party with a DJ and margaritas, but they’re keeping the finale firmly under wraps for now, just promising a “show-stopping end to the day”!

Fancy it? Platf9rm have kindly given BOTI readers an exclusive discount code – just enter BOTI10 at the checkout and you’ll get 10 percent off your tickets.
