The Brighton & Hove food scene is kind of a big deal, and not just in our opinion, either. Every year, the Brighton’s Best Restaurants team develop affordable fixed-price menus in celebration of that scene and this year is no different, OctoberBest is back!
Yes, the much-loved affordable foodie festival is bringing us some more great menus from a whopping 35 of the city’s top restaurants (including top 20 winners from the awards earlier this year) in, you guessed it, October.
Despite rising costs, participating restaurants have kept the menu prices at £25, making it an affordable way to discover more of the city’s great eateries, including several higher-end ones like Etch and Little Fish Market.
As ever, OctoberBest offers huge variety and this year’s line-up is the festival’s biggest – and tastiest – yet. From Mexican street food at sought-after spot Palmito and counter-top dining at Flint House to Louisiana-inspired shellfish boil at The Urchin and themed Sundays at 2023’s best restaurant Bincho Yakitori, there’s something for everyone.
What else? Excitingly, last year’s OctoberBest winners Halisco will be showcasing the Asian-inspired small plates of their new restaurant concept, Anakuma.
Fatto a Mano are holding a pizza-making masterclass to raise money for food waste charity The Real Junk Food Project and high-end tasting menu restaurant Furna are raffling off some mighty tasty prizes (a £300 meal for two for starters) to help boost the coffers of non-profit the Brighton & Hove Food Partnership.
“OctoberBest is a fun and affordable way to celebrate and support the unique dining scene we’ve got going on down here. The independent restaurants of Brighton and Hove are one of the things that make us stand out from other cities – if we don’t support them, we’ll lose them,” said Suzanne Lindfors, one of the festival organisers.
