check out brighton’s first low-alcohol bar

We all know people who don’t drink or have stopped drinking and the stats bear this out: one in five people in the UK are not drinking any alcohol now (according to a 2022 YouGov survey), so there’s clearly a need for somewhere for people to go out and socialise without the booze.

Step forward Tørstigbar, Brighton’s first low-alcohol bar. Set up by couple Luke and Emmi Cousins, the new spot is whipping up some bloody tasty low-alcohol and alcohol-free drinks (everything’s less than 0.5 percent) at this gorgeous space in the heart of Kemptown and we are here for it.

From clever and well-executed mocktails to low- and no-alcohol wines, spirits and beers – including the UK’s only alcohol-free Guinness draft machine – there’s something for all tastes. You can see their menu here. Oh, and there’s a very cute resident dog.

Today’s fun fact: tørstig is Danish for thirsty – they picked the name to pay tribute to a great-tasting non-alcoholic beer Luke had in Denmark.

They’re also launching a series of events for Dry January on Boxing Day, so watch this space!

Open Wednesday – Friday 5pm – 11pm, Saturday midday – 11pm and Sunday midday – 6pm
