brighton indies lucy & yak and pala team up on range of sustainable sunnies

Just in time for those long-awaited sunny days comes a collab from two great Brighton indie brands – Lucy & Yak and Pala.

Yep, the conscious clothing brand known for its signature dungarees has teamed up with neighbouring local, eco-friendly eyewear brand Pala, to produce a bright and playful range of sunglasses.

Available from Thursday 20th April, the timeless range features two different shapes that have been designed to suit all faces – the retro-style Lich and the oversized 70s-style Haiba.

Available in six typically vibrant colour options, from translucent pink and flame orange to cobalt blue, each £125 pair is handmade in small batches in Italy from eco-friendly bio-acetate.

And, in keeping with both brands’ commitment to positive social change, funds raised from the sale of the sunnies will go towards the build and set-up of a new eyecare facility in Sierra Leone.

Want to see and try them on in person? Pala is also showcasing its latest collections at a pop-up at 35 North Gallery (until 11th May) and fundraising for the Sierra Leone project. If you’ve got some old sunnies or specs you’ve had enough of, they’ll recycle them responsibly for you and give you 10 percent off their glasses. They’re also running a second-hand fashion swap shop on Tuesday 9th May (10am – 7pm) with sustainable fashion influencers Besma Whayeb and Lucy Lindley. If you want to get involved, just bring along one to three items of clean, good quality clothing.
