boti’s pick of the week: femrock festival

FemRock Festival is back in Brighton this week and we’ve got our favourite rock legend T-shirts at the ready. Returning for the second time, the not-for-profit event is bringing a bigger line-up than ever before. The festival focuses on promoting women in music and we’re behind anything that drives a bit of girl power.

The line-up includes some colourfully named rock acts (Quim Smashers, eh-hem), with 13 female-led ones on the bill. Some are just visiting to grace our ears with their rocky beats, but local bands Pussy Liquor, Bitch Theme, Suburban Death Twitch, Sit Down and Gullsband, will be representing home turf when they take to the stage at the Green Door Store on Saturday 30th June.

Rocking out is hungry work, so head for the vegan food stalls and tuck into the delights that Vegasmic and Cactus Kitchen Gals will be cooking up. There’s also going to be a feminist marketplace, full of amazing creations, including those of local female-led creative collective, Cult Milk. A personal favourite of ours.

Get down the front and rock out with your socks out.
