be part of brighton’s first penguin pride

Brighton Pride is one of our favourite weekends in the city, as the streets come to life with thousands of people celebrating the LGBTQ+ community and the diversity of Brighton & Hove. Not to mention the glitter… If you need a warm-up for the main event which takes place on the first weekend in August, then Penguin Pride is one for the diary. And no, we’re not talking about a waddle of penguins parading through the city wearing glitter. Although that would be cool, too.

What we’re more excited about is the fact that Brighton’s first Penguin Pride Festival is coming to the Komedia in July, bringing a fantastic line-up of LGBTQ+ writers, poets, musicians and activists to celebrate our city’s incredible diversity. The multi-arts festival event will be hosted by award-winning poet and playwright Toby Campion, presenting an evening of the best queer talent around.

Trans campaigner Fox Fisher (who you may remember from the Channel 4 doc My Transsexual Summer) is on the bill, along with award-winning poets Jay Bernard and Dizraeli, as well as writer Matthew Todd. £1 from every ticket sold will go towards the amazing work that The Albert Kennedy Trust (a great charity for young homeless LGBTQ+ people) do, so get your tickets now for Wednesday’s event! You won’t be disappointed.

Wednesday 25th July 2018, doors at 6.45pm for 7.30pm start; £16
