Charleston arts festival is back for 35th year

The Charleston Festival is one of the longest-running culture festivals in the UK and it’s back for its 35th edition in 2024.

As ever, the festival brings together a truly excellent line-up of artists, thinkers and changemakers over two weeks in May (reason number 456 of why May is one of the best months on the Brighton and Hove calendar).

You can expect over 100 speakers and more than 50 talks, with some of our highlights including Judi Dench in conversation with Bill Nighy; Nitin Sawney and Meera Syal discussing the relationship between arts, politics and society; Turner Prize-winning artist Grayson Perry on what constitutes art; Nicola Sturgeon talking politics with Juno Dawson; Peep Show and Succession creator Jesse Armstrong in conversation with co-writer Lucy Prebble, and so much more.

Basically, if you’re at all into literature and ideas, you’ll be in heaven here in the gorgeous grounds of Charleston, the modernist home of painters Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant.

Tickets are on sale now!
