mindful drinking festival comes to brighton

There used to be a positive dearth of interesting alcohol-free drinks that you actually wanted to spend your pennies on and guzzle. But more and more people are giving up booze for good or adding in soft-drink-only days to their weeks – in fact, half of UK adults have given up booze or plan to cut down, according to the UK’s mindful drinking movement Club Soda.

Brands have had to respond to this increase in demand and have upped the taste ante, meaning that you can now get some seriously good craft beers, wines and spirits that pack all of the flavour with none (or very little) of the alcohol.

And that’s where Club Soda’s Mindful Drinking Festival comes in. The two-day free event is coming to Brighton’s Open Market to showcase 40 of the best no- and low-alcohol brands on the market. We had an advance taste test of a few of them and can confirm that they stand up pretty well to their alcoholic counterparts!

You’ll be able to try them – and lower-sugar sodas, tonics and infusions – as well as take part in cocktail masterclasses with local experts and hear from inspirational speakers on living a healthier lifestyle.

Club Soda promotes mindful drinking and healthier living, but you don’t have to be teetotal to enjoy the event.

“You don’t have to be alcohol-free to come along, you may just want to swap out a few alcoholic drinks for something a bit healthier. So, whether you’re going sugar-free, on a fitness regime, drinking more mindfully, or going alcohol-free, we think you’ll find something to hit the spot,” said Club Soda founder Laura Willoughby.

Go and try it for yourself and let us know what you think!
