bross bagels join the shelter hall family this summer

What do you get if you cross a bit of Edinburgh with a pinch of Montreal and a dash of New York City? Bross Bagels, that’s what! The Edinburgh brand has popped up at our favourite food hall for the summer, bringing authentic Montreal-style bagels jam-packed with NYC deli-style fillings with them.

Creator Larah ‘Mama’ Bross’ bagel-building expertise is the product of her modern take on traditional Jewish cuisine, via a unique culture clash of her Canadian background, experience living in the Big Apple, and her passion for locally sourced Scottish ingredients. The result is some damn tasty bagels.

And the bagels at Shelter Hall will be delivered fresh from the brand’s Scottish bakery home where they hand-craft over 2,000 bagels a day to a traditional recipe.

So what can you expect? There’s the Montreal (pictured above), a sesame seed bagel filled with smoked salmon, cream cheese, pickled red onions, capers, dill and lemon and the Big Bross, which is stuffed with streaky bacon, fried egg, fries, melted smoked Applewood cheese, grilled beef tomato and Mama Bross’ rock sauce. And there’s one for the veggies, too, the Buffanono, a sesame seed bagel filled with deep-fried buffalo cauliflower, melted Swiss cheese, Montreal slaw and Mama’s ranch dressing.

Yum. They had us at ‘hand-crafted bagel’, to be honest.
