Fun art and great, local food is a pretty dreamy combo in our BOTI-shaped eyes, don't you agree? If the answer is yes, then this is an event for you. Dan Kenny and his team at The Set have been working hard to shake things up at 34 Regency Square. First a new à la carte menu and cocktail bar, The Fix, and now the Artist Residence hotel team (where the restaurant and bar reside) have launched some new artist rooms. To celebrate, they'll be hosting an intimate panel talk with artists Pure Evil (aka Charlie) and Ben Eine on Street Art vs Fine Art, where they'll be discussing the influences they have had on work, leading to a good old debate (we like those) about their places within our society today. Sounds interesting, doesn't it? Ben is big on typography (we like it, too) and with 25 years in the type face game, he's been on a big old journey exploring graffiti and developing a unique typographic style that you can see around Brighton and London – yes, we're talking about the familiar LOVE you may well have caught sight of. If you're familiar with Charlie's work – check that dripping paint underneath the eye of his muse of the moment – then you can probably tell he's also influenced by the world of graffiti. Both artists have their work at artrepublic on Bond Street, who will be hosting the evening as part of a new series of events aimed at making art more accessible. We'll keep you up to date with future events, don't worry. One thing we love about this gallery is that they offer the Own Art scheme, which means you can get an interest-free loan over 10 months to make it easier and more affordable to collect and buy contemporary art. In a way, it would probably be better if we didn't know about it... The panel will be chaired by city art blogger Stuart Holdsworth and recorded live for episode one of the second season of artrepublic’s 'Art-Related Noise' podcast, so if you can't make it to the event then you can still catch up on what Charlie and Ben discuss on the night. The talk will then be followed by a four-course tasting menu at The Set, who source their produce locally: you can even see a map of their Sussex producers on the wall in the bar. We absolutely love this. International artists, with locally sourced food. You'll also get a tour of the new rooms, so you'll be one of the first to see the new art in situ...
