Quarters opens its doors, heralding a new chapter in Brighton nightlife

This weekend is a big one for Brighton’s music scene. The venue formerly known as The Arch has had a complete glow-up, re-emerging as Quarters – a new cultural hub from AMAAD, the team behind well-known electronic music events Junction 2 and Boundary Brighton (also this weekend). The new club launches on Friday 26th September with a serious (and now waiting-list only) statement of intent: minimal house DJ Rossi is stepping up for the official Boundary afterparty and christening the brand-new 360-degree DJ booth. But the opening celebrations don’t stop there: Saturday night sees jungle and drum & bass royalty Shy FX (with long-time collaborator Rage) test out the new dancefloor and there's still a few tickets left. It's a fitting nod to the building’s clubbing heritage (Zap, Digital, The Arch – this address has seen it all). The space has seen a total refurb with chillout spaces, air-con, a top-notch L-Acoustics surround-sound system, and deliberately stripped-back lighting to keep the focus on the music. Speaking of the music, Quarters is leaning hard into electronic with line-ups that stretch from pioneers to next-gen innovators, but it’s not just about DJs or clubbing. As well as championing inclusivity and affordability (each night has an allocation of tickets for just a fiver), the venue's also programming intimate live shows, with Everything Everything, The Sherlocks and Death of Guitar Pop all coming up in the next couple of months. Looking further ahead, October and November are bringing more heavyweight names, including DJ EZ with a daytime UKG session, Laurent Garnier in long-form mode, Pendulum, Todd Terje, Andy C, and cult disco crew Crazy P to close out the year. Also on the agenda is Polyglamorous, Brighton’s beloved queer dance party, which will take over the new space for its next outing on 17th October. AMAAD founders Paul Jack and Will Harold said, "This is what Quarters is about - world-class artists, authentic clubbing experiences, and a celebration of electronic music culture. The line-ups span generations and genres while maintaining the quality and credibility that Brighton's discerning clubbers expect," the founders said. In a city already spoiled for music, Quarters feels like a bit of a reset button: a proper, purpose-built space that nods to the past while carving out its own future. Consider us excited.
