go to a gig with a difference with a candlelight concert

Lifestyle

You’re never short of a gig to go to in Brighton but there is one concert series that’s doing things a little differently. Fever’s Candlelight Series, as the name suggests, host candlelit performances across a range of genres in beautiful locations around the UK.

The concerts are taking place in several iconic settings across the country (the programme for Brighton is at St Mary’s Church in Kemp Town) and venues are then filled with the glow of hundreds of candles to create a really intimate setting for the musicians to do their thing.

And it’s not just straight classical music, either; there’s a tribute to Japanese composer Joe Hisaishi (he’s written over 100 film scores) with music from animated films Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle and an evening of movie soundtracks (including Mary Poppins‘ ‘A Spoonful of Sugar’ and Harry Potter and Star Wars medleys), all performed by a string quartet.

Tickets are already flying out the doors with two of the dates completely sold out, so don’t delay!

Friday 21st October (Joe Hisaishi), 8pm and Friday 28th October (movie soundtracks), 7.30pm; from £25
St Mary’s Kemp Town, Brighton, BN2 1PR
