get your short film on the beach big screen this summer

Lifestyle

The Luna Beach Cinema, founded by George Wood (pictured below), is back in Brighton in June for a month-long summer residency. Filmmakers, listen up – this also means you’ve got the chance to get your short film shown on the big screen.

Alongside their calendar of Fanzone (sport) and Films, the UK’s number one open-air cinema is looking for short film entries that celebrate Brighton. Keen to recognise and highlight the next generation of up-and-coming filmmakers in the city, they’re calling for submissions by 31st May. If you’ve got something you’d like to share, now’s the time to submit your entry. Not only could your work be screened on their giant LED HD screen, you’ll also be in the running for a £500 cash prize.

If you’re more of a watcher than a maker, they’ll be launching on Thursday 14th June, kicking their programme of events off with the World Cup Opening Ceremony from 3.00pm, followed by Russia v Saudi Arabia at 4.00pm. If you’re a fan of 70s’ classic Jaws, then stick around as that starts at 8.00pm.

They have a fully stocked bar on site, including beer, prosecco, a selection of wines, spirits and soft drinks, as well as hot drinks. Details of their gourmet street food partners will be announced soon, but you definitely won’t go hungry.

If pebbles aren’t your thing, hire a premium deck chair or even an all-day VIP beach hut, which seats up to four and comes complete with a mini-fridge. With old favourites such as Quadrophenia and Pretty Woman on the bill, we can’t wait.
