pick of the week: comedy and cocktails ft. mc cashback

We’re now in the full flows of Brighton Cocktail Week, so cheers to that. With the unwelcome rain that looks like its set to linger this week, what better timing than working your way around some of the city’s best cocktail venues? If you’ve got yourself a wristband for a tenner then we’re sure you’ll be busy tucking into Brighton’s finest cocktails for only £5 a pop. As part of the festival, MC Cashback is joining forces with Dead Man’s Fingers (that’s rum makers, not actual dead fingers) this Saturday, bringing a unique comedy night to Idle Hands.

If Idle Hands is new to you, we’d recommend getting acquainted. A neighbourhood pub run by a Brighton-born team, you’ll find it on Queens Road just down from Brighton station. They serve a cracking range of craft beer, but the star of the show this Saturday (other than MC Cashback, of course) will be the Passion is Dead cocktail special, which is only available on the night. A mix of Dead Man’s Fingers Spiced Rum and passion fruit, it’s bound to go down well.

The evening kicks off at 7.00pm with a cocktail quiz hosted by MC Cashback (aka the rapping chef), before he performs his new rap, along with a few old favourites. If you get peckish, try something from Dirty Mac’s menu, artisan mac n’ cheese masters that have created some tasty twists on a comfort food classic. They’ve got delicious toppings from spicy taco meat, buffalo chicken and crispy pancetta, to marinated aubergine and dressed peppers if you’re veggie. They’ve got vegan options too, so something for everyone. See you there for some rum and fun.
