DJs, a giant screen on the beach, live music, food vendors, and enough football to keep even your most football-obsessed mate happy. That’s the idea behind Central Park, a six-week pop-up taking over Black Rock this June.
Before the football fans move in though, Central Park is kicking things off with a pretty serious party.
The new pop-up venue opens on Saturday 13th June with an all-day open-air event from local promoters Puzzle featuring a bunch of top-drawer selectors, including French house mogul Sweely, on Brighton seafront.
Set right on Brighton beach, the temporary venue promises a packed programme of events, from live music festivals and tribute shows to England World Cup screenings on what’s being billed as the South Coast’s biggest screen. But it’s not just the screen, there’s food and drink stalls, evening DJs and probably lots of people acting like they’re on holiday.
Music highlights include drum and bass legend Shy FX, country music celebration Road to Nashville, The Bootleg Beatles, Rum & Reggae Fest, an indie all-dayer and an R&B beach festival.
Football fans, meanwhile, can watch England’s World Cup matches on the giant outdoor screen as part of the fan park experience, complete with DJs, food, drinks (some tickets even include a free beer) and special guests.
We suspect plenty of people will be heading down regardless of what’s actually on. Big screen, sea views, sunset drinks and a beach location? That’s a fairly convincing argument all on its own.
