Four NYE events worth staying up for

New Year’s Eve in Brighton isn’t about polite countdowns and half-hearted Prosecco – it’s about finding the night that actually feels worth staying up for. Whether you’re in the mood for glittering queer glam, a manor-house rave in the woods, an all-nighter that rolls straight into sunrise or a soulful live set with a built-in afterparty, these are the NYE events we’d happily sacrifice our January 1st dignity for. And if you’d rather not part with your pounds, the fireworks on the beach are always a great shout. But if you want to go out out, read on.

Our top pick – Cabarave at Stanmer House
A NYE rave at Stanmer House is a very Brighton sentence, and we mean that as a compliment. Cabarave parties – where cabaret meets rave, you get it – are always a good idea. This year they’re back with an immersive Heavenly Creatures-themed evening of late-night performance, drum & bass, disco, and jungle and heaps of big party energy, all in the gorgeous surrounds of Stanmer House mansion. There’s even a Cupids Collective matchmaking/dating den if you’re hoping to stumble into a crush before midnight. You never forget a Cabarave party, so don’t miss this one.

Our Roots: Opulence at Brighton Dome
Gal Pals and Polyglamorous teaming up with Brighton Dome again for “the ultimate queer party” is basically a public service. This is your invitation to dress up and be delicious in line with the titular theme (inspo here) and shake it all out to pop, dance, R&B, hip hop, house and loads of queer bangers.

NYE at Quarters
New cutting-edge club Quarters is going for the full sunrise shift this New Year’s Eve with Fleur Shore, L.P. Rhythm and Jansons leading the charge of infectious beats. This is the party for anyone who wants to head seamlessly to breakfast (you’ll need it) without sleeping in between.

Omar at Alphabet
If you want your New Year’s Eve to feel soulful but still very much a night out, try this one for size. Omar is bringing his unmistakable voice and deep catalogue to Alphabet for a NYE show that rolls straight into an afterparty, keeping the energy high well past midnight. It’s intimate, music-first and the perfect opportunity to see a genuine UK legend in a proper Brighton club setting. There’s also a show the night before if you want to get in there early – but we reckon this NYE one’s the moment.
