Work up a sweat at Brighton Fitness Festival

Sometimes it feels like there’s a new run club, Hyrox session or reformer Pilates studio popping up in Brighton every week (not that we’re complaining). But trying it all can quickly become an expensive hobby.

That’s where Brighton Fitness Festival comes in. It’s taking over Hove Lawns on Saturday 11th July, bringing together local gyms, instructors and wellness businesses for a free day of workouts, talks, competitions and exhibitors.

The biggest draw is arguably the chance to try classes from some of the city’s best-known fitness brands, and some new ones, all in one place. Sessions throughout the day include One City, Fight Klub, EmpowerHer, Ellavate Pilates and new-to-Brighton Strong Pilates, with a £2 charity donation requested if you want to join a main stage workout.

Even if you’re not planning to get sweaty, there’s still plenty to browse, with local fitness and wellbeing businesses showcasing what they do, healthy food and drink, seminars and Brighton’s Functional Fitness Competition taking place throughout the day.

Registering for a free ticket in advance also unlocks a digital goody bag packed with discounts and offers from exhibitors – never a bad incentive.

The event is also raising money for The FMG Project, a Brighton charity that uses fitness coaching programmes to help local young people build confidence and resilience.

Why go? It’s essentially a chance to test-drive Brighton’s fitness scene in one day. Try a class, discover somewhere new or just wander around and pick up a few freebies without committing to a membership.
