Brighton & Hove is full of art and colour, wherever you look. Kicking off the month with a festival as big and bright as Pride, we've found some of the best of the city's art to keep your life full of vibrancy. Here are some of our favourite bits of Brighton art that we reckon you should add to your diary. Alphabetown at ONCA You may well be familiar with the work of illustrator Sarah Edmonds, as we recently told you about her Botanical Illustration Workshop. She's also known for her infamous pieces with names like Tits, Shags and Peckers. We're talking birds, of course. Self-taught illustrator Sarah will be heading to the ONCA gallery to create a new kind of town... Alphabetown, to be precise. The live interactive exhibition will see the space transformed into an imaginative information centre. Visitors will be able to see the work-in-progress town, visit its landmarks, meet the locals and even add their own suggestions to the noticeboard. What would YOUR dream town look like? Here's your chance to get creative. There will be a building, location or character for each letter that reflects the city of Brighton & Hove, so you can expect anything from seagulls to the secrets of others' imaginations! There will also be a series of workshops happening during the exhibition, so make sure you check out the ONCA website so you can get your tickets booked! Graphic designer and illustrator Lisa Bamford has curated an amazing line-up of 17 talented local artists and makers, and we can't wait to see it. There will be a huge collection of everything from contemporary prints to bold modern jewellery, cards and photography to pins and patches from the likes of Hello Dodo, DesignosaurYEAH and Oh Someday. It will be a colourful collection and the perfect destination to feel inspired. So Brighton up your day in a single visit! Head to the UK's first Instagram-inspired Funhouse at Phoenix Gallery and you'll find some of the best backdrops to fill your Instagram feed. From ball pits to a confetti cove, the exhibition features more than ten unique photo-friendly environments to up your Instagram game! If this week's weather is anything to go by, we know how varied this can be. Depicted through the eyes of artists including gallery newcomer and local Linda Felcey, Brighton-taught David Harkins and Kirsty Wither, expect colour, texture, sun and waves, perfectly portraying the British summer.
