Had you at puppy parade? Good. Because that’s exactly what’s happening when Picturehouse’s outdoor cinema rolls into Preston Manor for a screening of cult comedy Best in Show. It’s all about dogs before the film even starts, with local canines taking centre stage in a red-carpet parade.
Better yet, we’ve got a pair of tickets to give away. Taking place on the South Lawn at Preston Manor on Saturday 21st June, the event combines two things Brighton is very good at: outdoor cinema and people being utterly obsessed with their dogs.
Before the film starts, audience members are invited to bring along their own four-legged stars to take part in a puppy parade, strutting their stuff down a red carpet in front of the big screen. No pressure, just a chance for local pups (and, let’s face it, their owners) to enjoy their moment in the spotlight. Needless to say, all participating pups will be generously rewarded for their efforts with W’Zis treats for the first 100 daring doggos and prizes for Best Dressed and Best Trick.
Once the canine catwalk is over, it’s time for Best in Show, Christopher Guest’s brilliantly observed mockumentary about the fiercely competitive world of dog shows and the increasingly eccentric humans who take them very, very seriously. Starring Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Jennifer Coolidge and Jane Lynch, it’s a sharp, silly and endlessly quotable comedy that’s built up a devoted following since its release.
The screening takes place in the beautiful grounds of Preston Manor, with food and drink available on site and a £7 voucher to spend included with every ticket.
Dogs are welcome throughout the evening too (and at all of this summer’s outdoor screenings, hurrah!) provided they’re kept on a lead. Frankly, we’d be disappointed if they weren’t.
So if your dog is just waiting for their moment in the spotlight (or you are) or you just fancy the idea of being able to take them with you/watch other people’s dogs attempt to behave in public, we reckon this is a pretty lovely to spend a summer evening.

One winner will receive two standard tickets to Best in Show (+ puppy parade) on Sunday 21st June 2026.
The competition closes at 5pm on Thursday 11th June. Entries received after this will not be counted. The winner will be notified within 48 hours.
You must be over 18 to enter. Valid ID may be required for entry to the shows.
Competition winners will be chosen at random after the closing date. The winner’s email will be shared with the partners after they are notified by BOTI to arrange collection of the prize.
