white wall cinema returns in may
We’re (hopefully) on the home straight out of lockdown now, so that means the return of BOTI fave White Wall Cinema. Government roadmap permitting, WWC’s socially distanced showings will kick off again on 17th May.
A far cry from the mainstream fare that often gets repeated ad nauseam at other pop-ups, WWC’s spring edition is chock full of an eclectic mix of cinematic thrills.
The film buff team carefully hand-pick each and every movie they show, so you can be sure it’s going to be good, whether you’ve heard of it or not. Think modern masterpieces, such as Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel (we’ll be watching with a box of macarons from Julien Plumart) to lesser-known international films and cult favourites, as well as their brilliant secret movie nights that keep you guessing until the opening credits roll.
One of our lockdown heroes, WWC took over Wagner Hall and its outdoor garden area for a socially distanced summer screen, followed by autumn and winter versions.
And it may still be cold, but you can still enjoy a pre-film drink in the fairylight-studded garden area. If you’re worried about distancing inside, they’re very careful to maintain restricted numbers and have clear seating bubbles and sanitiser stations in place, so it feels very safe.
Plus, there’s a well-stocked, fairly priced bar – the Snack Nicholson – to keep you going, and a fantastic film shop – bring cash!
Prefer the films to come to you? Well, they’re still running their brilliant lockdown cinema-at-home offering, Home Service, which makes a genius present.
