white wall cinema launches winter screenings
BOTI fave White Wall Cinema is back with another edition of its popular socially distanced screenings.
A far cry from the mainstream fare that often gets repeated ad nauseam at other pop-ups, WWC’s winter edition is chock full of an eclectic mix of cinematic thrills.
The film buff team carefully hand-pick each and every movie they show, so you can be sure it’s going to be good, whether you’ve heard of it or not. Think brilliant but overlooked modern films, such as Luc Besson’s story of Joan of Arc (16th December), to little-known international films and cult favourites.
One of our lockdown heroes, WWC took over Wagner Hall and its outdoor garden area for a social distanced summer screen, followed by an autumn version and they’re still there for the winter screenings!
And it may be winter, but you can still enjoy a pre-film drink in the fairylight-studded garden area. If you’re worried about distancing inside, they’re very careful to maintain restricted numbers and have clear seating bubbles and sanitiser stations in place, so it feels very safe.
Plus, there’s a well-stocked, fairly priced bar – the Snack Nicholson – to keep you going and a fantastic film shop – bring cash!
Prefer the films to come to you? Well, they’re still running their brilliant lockdown cinema-at-home offering, Home Service, which we reckon makes a genius Christmas present.
From 2nd December; from £5
