The trademark pink Lucy & Yak store – the brand’s first – on Kensington Gardens is moving up the road to North Road to take over part of what was GAK music shop.
There’s a lot of demand for the brand’s colourful, ethically made gear – as evidenced by the number of people sporting their comfy dungarees on the streets of Brighton – so it makes sense that they needed more space.
“When we first brought the brand to Brighton, we opened our first shop on the corner of Tidy Street before relocating to Kensington Gardens. This space became our first official ‘little pink shop’ as well as the office for our product and marketing teams – it feels like the start of a new chapter moving to North Road” said brand co-founder Lucy Greenwood.
Set to open on 12th September, the new store will sell all the latest collections, as well as its core products, at ground floor level.
The shop will have pastel interiors and seven changing rooms, including an accessible one.
They’ll only have part of the GAK space, though. The large unit will be split into two with sock brand Socktopus taking the other half.
In true Lucy & Yak fashion, it’s not going to be a muted affair, either. Local artist Alice Humphreys will be creating a bold, playful mural to cover GAK’s old bright yellow shop front.
One for the shoppers who like to celebrate bold colour – for those who prefer more muted shades, there’s still the brand’s newer peach-hued shop on Ship Street.
The new shop will be at 79 – 80 North Road. The old store closes on 10th September and the new one opens on the 12th.
