book now: botanical workshop trio

Looking for your next botanically themed craft fix? Well then, listen up, because the team over at Brighton & Hove’s Emmaus are hosting a trio of workshops in their Greenhouse and we want to do them all. The charity, which helps people move on from homelessness by offering them a home and meaningful work, has invited local artists to teach art and craft classes to raise money to support their Greenhouse project.

Macramé Master
Their last macramé plant hanger workshop proved popular, so Lucy of Peas and Needles is back for another! A nice way to kick off the weekend a little early, it will be running on Friday 15th March and it’s perfect for beginners who are keen to learn the basic knot styles. They’ll provide the rope, a selection of wooden or copper beads and all the guidance you need to create your masterpiece. It’s a great idea for a Mother’s Day gift, if you’re stuck for ideas, too. Pop and cake are included in the price, too…
Friday 15th March, 2.00pm – 4.00pm; £25

Build a bottle
Next up, the Greenhouse will play host to a Garden in a Bottle workshop with Alys from lovely plant shop Between Two Thorns. All the proceeds from this event will also go towards the charity and continuing the amazing work they do. That’s what we like! This workshop is the perfect opportunity to head down to the beautiful greenhouse and build your very own ecosystem to take home and brighten up your everyday life.
Friday 4th April, 1.00pm – 3.00pm; £25

Pinch, punch, the 13th day of the month
The third in their trio of fundraising crafty sessions is a punch-needle embroidery workshop, where Lucy of Peas and Needles returns for the Emmaus Spring Fair on Saturday 13th April. If there is some spring sunshine then the workshop will be on the terrace (or in the longroom at the back of the shop otherwise!), where you’ll have the chance to learn how to use the punch needle and transfer your chosen design onto the fabric, leaving with your very own botanical-themed piece of art! You can admire it as a wall hanging or make it into a cushion cover, rug, lampshade or bag. Wow!
Saturday 13th April, 2.00pm – 4.00pm; £25

The Spring Fair will be happening from 10.00am to 4.30pm on 13th April and you’ll have the chance get your hands on second-hand goodies including patio furniture, gardening tools and books, plants and seeds! They’re also calling on all gardeners of Brighton & Hove to have a shed clearout before the fair and donate any unwanted garden items to help them raise vital funds. The perfect excuse for a spring clean, we think!

All events will be taking place at Emmaus Brighton & Hove, Drove Rd, Portslade, Brighton BN41 2PA
