3 of the best outdoor drinking spots this winter

The end of Sober October (for those that did it!) is here, so if you’re looking forward to discovering some of Brighton & Hove’s best drinking haunts this winter, then you’re in the right place. Getting cosy in a pub is so last year, didn’t you know? Now it’s all about bringing the outside in and we’ve discovered three of the best outdoor (but kind of indoor) drinking spots in the city this winter.

Brighton Beach Box and Igloos
Cocktails in containers aren’t something that we have a lot of in Brighton & Hove, so if you’re after something a little bit different as we head into the festive season, grab your mates and head to the beach from 30th November. The Brighton Music Hall are bringing their festoon-filled igloos back and this time they’ll be joined by heated shipping containers complete with candelabras and cosy skins. Now, this most certainly gets our vote, think of the backdrop, too! If you fancy heading down there for your Christmas party, they’ve got live bands and DJs all lined up and ready to go. Plus, you can expect real fires to get cosy around while you take in the pier-to-pier views and swoon over a spiced rum. Bliss.

L’Atelier Du Vin
One of our favourite rooftop drinking spots in the summer, we reckon this tucked away terrace is an absolute gem. Their cosy prohibition-style cocktail and wine bar has the city’s biggest collection of wines and spirits, with over 580 wines and 300 spirits to choose from. And it’s not just the decor that takes you back in time, the cocktail menu takes you on a voyage through different eras, too, allowing you to sample some true prohibition cocktails. Clear your schedule, you might end up staying a while. And don’t miss the latest addition to their terrace (which overlooks Kensington Gardens in the heart of the North Laine) – the igloo! Seating from two to eight people, you can shelter from the elements with a cosy blanket (included) as champagne and cocktails are served to you in your cosy cloud. Just make sure you book as space is limited!

Thor’s Tipi Bar
Picture this… a glass of mulled wine, a roaring fire, fairy lights and faux furs. If this sounds like your kind of dream, then keep an eye out for Thor’s Tipi Bar as it takes over Jubilee Square from 9th November for the rest of the year. Step inside their cosy tipi and head to the bar where you can choose from a range of tipples, with anything from cocoa and coffee to spirits and shots are on the menu. There will be festive faces, sweet treats, warm cider, fine ales and, most importantly, some cosy surroundings. So, sit back and enjoy the experience of being transported to a Nordic wonderland. Little Vikings are welcome, too…
