vegan fast-food restaurant oowee vegan opens

Yep, Oowee Vegan, the 100 percent plant-based fast-food restaurant set up by friends Charlie Watson and Verity Foss in 2016, has opened a permanent site in Brighton.

The new opening is good news for vegan fast-food lovers as previously, Brightoners were only able to get their hands on the tasty dishes via Oowee’s Deliveroo Editions pop-up kitchen.

Not tried them before? Think grilled plant-based ‘beef’ burgers (go for the Big Oovee – a hearty patty and hash brown creation – if you’ve got the belly space), crispy flaming fried ‘chick’n’ burgers slathered in home-made jalapeno mayonnaise, and generously loaded dirty fries and waffles. You can see the full Brighton menu here.

The 30-seater dog-friendly restaurant doesn’t currently offer any gluten-free options as they make their own seitan on site, but they say they’re working on it, so watch this space.

“The quality of vegan food being developed now is mind-blowingly good, and we aim to be at the forefront of that, being enjoyed by meat eaters, just as much as vegans,” said Charlie Watson.

We know, does Brighton need ANOTHER vegan restaurant? Well, as Brighton was dubbed the best city in the UK for vegans, we’re going to say hell, yeah, the more the merrier! And when you can seduce even meat lovers with plant-based junk food, you know you’re onto a winner!
