pub in the park is serving up in brighton this september

Chef Tom Kerridge’s music and food festival, Pub In The Park, is landing in Brighton for the first time and it’s safe to say we’re pretty excited.

So what can you expect? Top-notch live music (from the likes of The Human League, Soul II Soul Soundsystem, Melanie C, Toploader, Basement Jaxx, Gabrielle and The Craig Charles Funk & Soul Club), for starters.

And, it’s a chef-founded festival, so you know there’s going to be plenty of high-end food to enjoy. Kerridge has gathered up some of his favourite chef pals – and their restaurants – to cook up a storm at the event. There’ll be Sussex boy Kenny Tutt’s Ox Block (read our review here), The Tanner Brothers’ The Kentish Hare, The Half Moon Inn in Sussex by fashion model turned pub owner Jodie Kidd, Atul Kochhar’s restaurants, British-Afghan barbeque sensation Cue Point, not forgetting Kerridge’s own two Michelin-starred The Hand and Flowers, of course.

Plus, new addition, and the only British three-starred Michelin chef Marco Pierre-White will be co-hosting the Saturday afternoon and meeting and greeting foodie fans.

Our mouths are already watering at some of the dishes that are going on the menu: we’re talking stout-braised beef short rib croquette with Yukon Gold mash and horseradish sauce, pork belly and smoked cod’s roe taco, and ox cheek with bone marrow potato purée served with garden dressing, crispy onion and chives.

Veggies and vegans are well catered for, too, with tasty dishes, such as Boston bean and cheddar pie with horseradish creamed spinach, chipotle-roasted king oyster mushroom bao bun with salsa macha and pickles, and channa samosa and banjan naco also on the menus.

But it wouldn’t be a foodie festival without some live cooking demos. You’ll be able to see some of the above chefs in action, as well as others, including Brighton’s finest cooking up a storm, such as Cin Cin’s Jamie Halsall, Riddle and Finns’ Peter White and Burnt Orange’s Pete Dantanus.

If BBQ’s more your bag, then you can head to The Firepit for sizzling barbeque sessions hosted by fire-cooking fan Adam Purnell, aka Shropshire Lad. We can already smell the seared steaks!
