pub in the park comes to brighton in july 2023

Chef Tom Kerridge’s music and food festival, Pub In The Park, was postponed following the Queen’s death last September, but now it’s got a summer spot for its Brighton debut and it’s safe to say we’re pretty excited.

So what can you expect? Top-notch live music (Sugababes are headlining the Friday night, plus you’ll also see Happy Mondays, Soul II Soul Soundsystem, Stereo MCs, Toploader, Norman Jay, Gabrielle, Dodgy, Judge Jules and The Craig Charles Funk & Soul Club), for starters.

And, it’s a chef-founded festival, so you know there’s going to be plenty of high-end food to enjoy. Kerridge has gathered up some of his favourite chef pals – and their restaurants – to cook up a storm at the event. There’ll be Brighton’s own The Chilli Pickle, Sussex boy Kenny Tutt’s Pitch, The Tanner Brothers’ The Kentish Hare, Monika Linton’s Tapas Brindisa, not forgetting Kerridge’s own two Michelin-starred The Hand and Flowers, of course.

The menus have now been released and our bellies are already a-rumbling. Here’s a wee taster: think 40-day-aged sirloin and truffled cheddar-loaded fries (Pitch), salt and pepper squid and hash brown bites (Kentish Hare) and Kerridge’s fried chicken and veggie hot dogs (The Hand & Flowers), and a lot more.

But it wouldn’t be a foodie festival without some live cooking demos. You’ll be able to see some of the above chefs in action, as well as others, including Brighton’s finest cooking up a storm, such as Cin Cin’s Jamie Halsall, Riddle and Finns’ Peter White and Burnt Orange’s Pete Dantanus.

If BBQ’s more your bag, then you can head to The Firepit for sizzling barbeque sessions hosted by fire-cooking fan Adam Purnell, aka Shropshire Lad. We can already smell the seared steaks!
