book now: our favourite foodie pop-ups
Food glorious food… there’s a lot of the good stuff here in Sussex, so we’ve picked some of our favourite pop-up food events happening soon!
Skint in the city
Earlier this year we told you about Skint, the incredible eight-course menu that is designed to be the most affordable in the city. The third event from the team behind Syndicate Kitchen, they’ll be cooking up dishes that represent some of their favourite local food businesses. Taking over the reins of the V&H Cafe for the evening, you can get your lips around chef Michael Notman-Watt’s delicious menu for just £25 per person. A bargain!
Tuesday 20th August, doors 6.30pm with the first course served at 7.15pm; £25 per person
V&H Cafe, 63B Holland Road, Hove BN3 1BA
Perfect Plum Bank Holiday pop-up
Kim runs a pop-up every last Friday of the month at her mews kitchen in Hove, changing the menu with the seasons to give guests a taste of the best produce around that month. This month it’s Fish Friday and she’s got a feast planned for her guests. Perfect Plum like to keep it local, with this month’s shallow-water hake sustainably caught with a long-line method just off Brighton beach by Fish Galore, who are based in the same mews in Hove. Cute. Their fish supper menu includes smoked paprika pollock croquetas with green onion aioli, home-cured beetroot gravadlax with mustard sauce, hake in yoghurt, sumac, garlic cucumber and mint relish and meringue with roast apricot and praline cream. Email kim@theperfectplum.uk to reserve your space.
Friday 23rd August, 7.30pm; £32 per person including a bespoke menu and complimentary drink
3 Kings Mews, Hove, BN3 2PA

Four Restaurant back in September (feature image)
When we heard the news that 15 Vine Street wasn’t happening just yet we were pretty sad, but then we spotted that chef Aaron Dalton is back with his famous Four Restaurant pop-up next month. Phew. He’ll be heading to V&H Cafe on Sunday 14th September where he’ll be plating up an eight-course taster of some of the dishes he’s been dreaming up for the past few months. We’re chuffed that while his bricks and mortar restaurant dream might have been put on the backburner for a little while, his tasty menus haven’t.
Sunday 14th September; £55 per person

If you’re looking for something a little more rural, Sussex-based, off-grid outdoor dining and foraging experience masters Fire & Wild are heading to the Kent countryside this bank holiday weekend. A unique immersive dining experience, their five-course tasting menu will focus on seafood from the nearby coast and game harvested from the site. Paired with wines from Kent-based vineyard Westwell and hand-selected by their sommelier, they promise an impressive banqueting experience. If you fancy going all out, they have overnight accommodation available in luxury bell tents including a breakfast hamper, too!
