The Brighton & Hove food scene is kind of a big deal, and not just in our opinion, either. Every year, the Brighton’s Best Restaurants team develop affordable fixed-price menus in celebration of the cream of the city’s restaurant crop and this year is no different: OctoberBest is back!
Yes, the much-loved affordable foodie festival is returning for the tenth year, bringing us more great menus from almost 40 of the city’s top restaurants in, you guessed it, October.
Last year, they introduced price bands and things have changed again a little for this year, with some menu prices now as low as £15 (up to £35), making eating out more affordable for everyone. Previously, the menus were offered at a £25 fixed rate across the board.
“The new price bands we’ve introduced will give the restaurants the flexibility to offer great value at lunch and dinner, meaning there’s more choice for diners than ever before,” said Brighton’s Best co-founder Andy Lynes last year.
We love that even in this cost-of-living crisis we’ve still got an affordable way to discover more of the city’s great eateries that were voted into the top 30 at Brighton’s Best Restaurants’ awards.

As ever, OctoberBest offers huge variety and the restaurants have dreamt up another batch of creative menus this year.
Speaking of the menus, they were released on Friday 19th at 7pm sharp to a flurry of button-pressing fingers eager to get their bookings in.
Some of the offerings – such as No No Please’s Traitors-inspired candlelit meal, The Set’s epic seven-course tasting menu with added gift vouchers and Fatto a Mano’s pizza-making masterclasses are close to sell out/have sold out, but it’s worth keeping an eye on Brighton’s Best Restaurant’s Instagram page, as restaurants sometimes release additional tables.
Some of our highlights (there’s a lot!) include a Wagyu beef tasting experience at The Coal Shed (£35); a seasonal four-course menu with optional wine flight at fine-dining restaurant Dilsk (£35); half-price weekend breakfasts at Embers for the duration of the festival; a four-course menu with snacks and bread at fine-dining restaurant Etch (£35); three courses for £35 at fine-dining restaurant Furna; unlimited tacos with loads of extras at Med’s new Lobo dining concept (£30); four sharing dishes at new Thai restaurant Namo (£25); a tacos collab between Palmito and The Real Junk Food Project using surplus food and locally farmed meat, with top-notch margaritas and rare tropical music cuts; The Spice Circuit’s seven/eight-plate Indian sharing menu inspired by Chef Kanthi’s mum; and a bargainous autumn four-course menu from Hove bistro Wild Flor at just £25.
But whatever you opt for, you can’t go wrong. We’re lucky to have so many brilliant indie restaurants in the city and this is the perfect opportunity to enjoy their offerings at a fraction of the normal cost.
