meet skint: the 8-course menu for £20

We’ve been trying to meal prep to save money since the new year, but let’s be honest, sometimes we just want to splash out on something a bit more exciting. Well, luckily for Brighton (and us), new project The Syndicate Kitchen is back with another round of Skint, its eight-course tasting menu for the princely sum of just 20 smackeroos.

Set up by chef Michael Notman-Watt (64 Degrees) to celebrate the bonds that food can create and the people behind food and drink projects, this is Skint’s second outing, after a successful event at zero-waste restaurant Silo in February.

This time around, they’ve teamed up with West Sussex-based small batch roastery Craft House Coffee and will be hosting the event at Wolfsmouth’s new restaurant Paradiso Social. It’s a real collaborative affair as the dishes on the evening’s menu will showcase the regions of the world where Craft House get their coffee – they’ll also be introducing their beans – while the Paradiso Social team will be mixing up a storm behind the bar.

So what’s our key message here? Sometimes it’s good to be Skint!

Monday 25th March, bar opens at 6.30pm, dinner at 7.30pm; £20 (email michael@thesyndicatekitchen.com to book)
The Paradiso Social, 38 Preston Road, Brighton BN1 4QF

PS If you like the sound of this and you’re in the market for a special foodie event to take your mum to on Mother’s Day, then how about a Brazilian feast? Notman-Watt and his family (mum included) are tapping in to their Brazilian roots to cook up a Mother’s Day storm on Sunday 31st March.
