komedia gets new menu and new head chef

The year is no longer quite so new, but we’re still a sucker for new chef announcements, especially when they bring with them new menus full of tasty vegan treats (not just for Veganuary either). This time it’s the turn of Brighton’s Komedia, which recently welcomed Matt Powers as their new head chef. He comes fresh from cooking up roasts using his own home-grown produce for customers at Kemptown’s Brighton Rocks.

Matt’s a big fan of fresh, local ingredients and seasonal produce and wants his menus to focus on these. Some of the new dishes we’re most excited about trying are his vegan offerings: the Lebanese filo parcel (pictured), Jerk kebabs, buffalo cauliflower, nachos and a sumptuous-sounding dark chocolate and coconut torte.

“We’re looking forward to making the menu a little simpler so we can concentrate on a few things and do them well. We want to make Komedia a place you want to come and eat, as well as a place to see a great show,” says Matt.

Hear, hear, says us. We’re looking forward to tasting the new food over a healthy helping of lols!
