Indulge your wizarding fantasies at this immersive cocktail bar
Whether you fancy a quick pint or dare to risk your eyebrows in a potion-making class, The Cauldron has got something to bring even the wildest Brightonian fantasies to life.
Yep, you heard that right. The Cauldron Brighton is a magical, wizard-inspired cocktail bar full of weird and wonderful stuff.
If you decide to book in for the signature potion-making experience, expect to be handed a wizard robe and a working magic wand (crafted in house using patented smart technology) on arrival. At BOTI, you know us, we like to get stuck in – so, of course, we dived wands first into the immersive potion-making.
We kicked things off by using our activated magic wands to pour ourselves a refreshing gin cocktail infused with lychee, straight from a dragon’s mouth, aka Spellcasting 101. Spoiler alert: it tasted just like juice and there were no complaints here.
With the confidence of our first drink under our belts, we dove further into the wizarding world by attempting to concoct our first ever potion. Luckily for us, the transfiguration tonic was suitable for beginners. We began by mixing together essence of lavender and ‘butterfly wing serum’, before casting a colour-changing spell to transform our cocktail from blue to pink. Hermione Granger, eat your heart out. The final result was definitely one for those with a sweet tooth.
Using our newly found wizarding skills, we braved some intermediate potion-making and things got pretty smoky after adding a jar of fairy dust (no fairies were harmed in the making) to our cast-iron cauldrons. The end product was a smooth-yet-sour rum cocktail with hints of lemon, thyme, cardamom and Assam chai. It had quite a kick to it and went down a treat at our table.
There were also heaps more incredibly lively, bubbling, and even fiery cocktails on offer. Each drink packed a punch in more ways than one and left our heads feeling slightly sore the next morning. (No magic potion for that, sadly.)
As well as offering 1 hour 45 minutes of fantastical potion-making, The Cauldron is home to a walk-in molecular cocktail bar and beer garden serving 10 lines of beer, including Guinness and IPAs.
Kid-friendly times and student nights are also available at the fourth of its magical venues to open in the UK. It’s a great spot for fantasy lovers, Harry Potter enthusiasts, and anyone who enjoys an immersive spin on tasty cocktail-making.
A welcome addition to Brighton’s quirky cocktail scene, we’ll be back to indulge more of our Harry Potter fantasies – accio more drinks!
