brighton businesses launch auction to feed the frontline

If you’ve spent any time on social media during the lockdown, then it’s likely you will have come across the amazing work that the Brighton & Hove NHS Foodbank has been doing. Starting out in March by two Brighton residents Petra Exton and Simon Livermore, they began bringing food and groceries to NHS staff working on the frontline fighting Coronavirus.

Over the past few weeks, they’ve been teaming up with the Brighton Restaurants Association and its members to develop a concept that allows them to deliver four tasty meals a day to the frontline Critical Care team at the Royal Sussex County Hospital (RSCH) in Brighton and Princess Royal in Haywards Heath. That’s a whopping 1,400 meals a week. Thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign that has raised over £18,000, they’ve been able to continue their support for the NHS, whilst also allowing businesses in the hospitality sector to keep going as donations cover their costs.

To keep this going, they need to raise more funds, which is where you can help. Some of the incredible businesses in our community have come together to donate prizes worth over £10,000, so they’ve launched The Brighton Experience Charity Auction which goes live this Thursday, 16th April. If you’ve ever fancied a visit from your favourite Brighton chef and have them cook for you and your mates in your home, then now is your chance, as there are lavish cook at home experiences from Alun Sperring of The Chilli Pickle, Ben McKellar at the Gingerman Group and Jamie Halsall of Cin Cin, just to name a few. Sounds good, doesn’t it?

It doesn’t stop at food and drink though, so take a look at some of the other prizes on offer:

  • Seasonal guided tour of Chapel Down wine estate, wine and beer boxes from Laine’s, Ridgeview and others
  • Restaurant and cooking class experiences from Easy Tiger, Fourth and Church, The Salt Room and many more
  • A Majesty Blanket by local artist Natasha Coverdale. Swoooon.
  • Our Daily Edit Home Gift Care package
  • A rubber plant from Between Two Thorns

Head to the website via the button below to check out the full list of auction prizes and place a bid from 8.00pm on Thursday 16th April, closing on Sunday 26th April.
