choose love pop-up opens in brighton

We’ve done Black Friday and Cyber Monday and now we’re hurtling head first into the consumer-fest that Christmas has, in many ways, become. But, there’s a remedy for that. Not only can we choose to buy from local, independent brands, but we’re excited that more of us are going to be able to support refugees in need more easily, too, as Brighton is getting its own ‘Choose Love’ pop-up Help Refugees shop next week.

If you’ve not heard of the Choose Love shop, basically, it’s shopping with a huge helping of heart and zero guilt as you’ll be spending your money on real practical gifts for refugees. You won’t take anything home, though; instead, each purchase you make will buy a similar product for a refugee that really needs it. It’s been a rip-roaring success in London, raising nearly £1 million last year, so we’re sure it’s going to go down a storm here, too, as well as make the cause far more visible. Happily, the Help Refugees charity confirm that 100% of the donations from the store go straight towards supporting front-line services.

The shop will be open for a week at Duke’s Lane and you’ll be able to see and buy essential items, such as coats, sleeping bags and tents, as well as get your hands on some rather lovely Katherine Hamnett-Designed CHOOSE LOVE T-shirts and jumpers. With prices starting at just £3 for hot food, right up to £599 for the whole store, there’s something to suit almost every budget.

And if you’ve got presents for the family piling up at home, but haven’t summoned the energy to wrap them yet *waves*, you just can just take them all down to the shop where the lovely assistants will turn them into prettily packaged parcels in exchange for a donation.

Plus, on Saturday 8th December, the fundraising factor will get amped up with a raffle draw, live music and booze from Crumbs Brewing to accompany your shopping.
