award winning befries launch kickstarter

We have to admit that when it comes to Brighton’s West Street, BeFries is the king of the strip and probably the only reason we end up there. A family run business, they’ve been making the best Belgium Fries in the city since 2016. Last year they started potting up their incredible sauces and selling them, with their Vegan Basil Mayo being awarded 2 stars from the Great Taste Awards 2018.

Starting out small by selling just a handful of their popular sauces in their Brighton shop, sibling trio Dashal, Chan and Ezda knew they were on to a good thing and have been busy planning their next venture, BeSaucy. A sister brand that they hope to launch with the help of a crowdfunding campaign kicking off today, Monday 8th July, they’re looking to raise £30,000 and they’re hoping the local Brighton community will help them get there. A new kitchen and manufacturing equipment that’s needed to help them on their mission to become the country’s biggest supplier of vegan sauces doesn’t come cheap…

With pledges starting at as little as £6 to be added to their photo wall of fame, its a great opportunity to help give a local independent business a leg up on to bigger things. Being fries fans ourselves, we’ve got our eye on their BeFries 10 portion frequent fryer card for £33, along with a six pack of their BeSaucy jars (of your choosing) for £22. If you’re seriously saucy and happen to have £1,000 to pledge, then you could event create and name your very own sauce, working with Chef Chan in the kitchen. BeBoti sauce has a nice ring to it, don’t you think?

By making a pledge, it’s not just the BeFries family you’ll be helping, as they’ve given away over 2,500 portions of chips to the homeless and rough sleepers in Brighton since they opened, so with continued support to take their BeSaucy range national, they’ll be able to feed even more people.

On Saturday 13th July they will also be having an all-day event at their store, giving diners the join them to celebrate the launch of their crowdfunder by opting for a sampling plate of BeFries’ five delicious new BeSaucy flavours for just £1, which will go directly into their crowdfunding pot. So you’ll be one of the very first to taste the new sauces that the family aim to have in shops nationwide by the end of the year. We can’t think of a better reason to stop by on Saturday for their fluffy fries, personally.

Here’s hoping they’ll be celebrating their 3rd birthday in style on 5th August, having met their target. Let’s help them get there!
