Countdown begins for Seagulls’ new museum exhibition

Seagulls in a museum? Yep, the story of Brighton & Hove Albion – aka the Seagulls – is set for a new chapter, not on the pitch this time, but inside Brighton Museum & Art Gallery.

Marking the club’s 125th anniversary, a major exhibition will open in August 2026, charting the club’s turbulent past and extraordinary rise to the Premier League and European football.

It promises to dig into the club’s defining moments, from the fan-led battle to save Albion in the late 1990s, through the climb from the lower leagues, to the highs of top-flight football. Expect memorabilia, match highlights and personal stories from supporters, players and staff that capture just how deep Albion’s roots run – in Sussex and far beyond.

The exhibition will take over a permanent 93-square-metre space on the museum’s upper floor, with the aim of not just showcasing footballing achievement, but also reflecting the resilience and identity of the community that fought to keep the club alive.

Tony Bloom, Albion’s chairman since 2009, called it “a wonderful opportunity to tell our Sussex and global fanbase about the journey the club has been on.”

With the countdown now underway, Brighton is only a year out from opening the doors on what promises to be a permanent home for Albion’s story – one that belongs as much to its fans as it does to the club itself.
