new weekly film club in brighton

Who doesn’t love a lazy Sunday roast followed by a classic movie? That’s exactly what we thought when we heard that our friends over at The Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts (ACCA) are launching a weekly Sunday Cinema Club. With films starting at 4.00pm, it makes it the perfect afternoon movie-watching haunt for that post-roast food coma, too.

Kicking things off on Sunday 17th February with an Oscar-nominated political thriller set in 1980s East Germany, The Lives of Others sees a member of the secret police (aka the Stasi) begin to question his own ideas of perfection, as he begins surveillance of a playwright. Ooooh.

We have a feeling this Cinema Club will become a weekly Sunday jaunt for us here at BOTI after taking a look at the line-up of films they’ve got coming up. We’ve already booked our tickets for the award-winning Matangi/ Maya/ M.I.A, voted best music documentary of 2018 by the International Documentary Association. Taken from a collection of personal videos from the past 22 years, director Steve Loveridge has created an incredible story of the critically acclaimed artist during her journey from refugee immigrant to pop star. We can’t wait!

Sunday Cinema Club starts Sunday 17th February, weekly at 4.00pm; £7 adult, £5 concessions
