book now: sea lanes swim festival

We don’t know about you, but we’ve enjoyed this last burst of summer. But, as we prepare to say farewell to sunnier climes, we’re definitely up for seeing the summer out in style and enjoy the water as much as we can. And, guess what, the saltwater fans over at Sea Lanes have got an End of Summer Swim Festival for us, to make sure we go out with a splash.

Head down to Sea Lanes on Saturday 28th September and soak up a day of water-based fun and inspiration, but make sure you register for a ticket via the link below, as the line up they’ve got planned looks like a good one. Outdoor Swimming Magazine’s Ella Foote will be hosting the event, with things kicking off at 12.00pm in the shape of a body image and swimming talk entitled Does my mum look big in this swimsuit? Guest speakers include Rosie from Swimwear designers Deakin and Blue, Alice from community swimming group Women’s Swimming Collective and Alex Heminsley, Swimmer and Author of Leap In.

Next up on the agenda at 1.00pm is a look at the risk and magic of cold water swimming, two important things to consider before you start sea swimming (especially in Brighton!). Experts OSS Medical Advisor & Consultant Anaesthetist, Dr Mark Harper, Simon Griffiths from Outdoor Swimmer Magazine and Katie Bracher of Beach Box Sauna will be sharing their experiences on the topic. Next up at 2.00pm, co-author of Lido Guide, Emma Pusill, and Swimmer & Journalist, Ashley Norris, will be joined by Swimmer & Author Joe Minihane and Will from Above Below as they talk Swim Adventures and where they can take you.

Still not sure about a sea swim? The final talk of the day will have everyone wanting to get in the water, the Sea Lanes’ own Andy White and Marianne Clark will join Outdoor Swimmer Magazine’s Simon Griffiths to talk about Rediscovering the love of swimming, with tips and tricks for getting more from your lengths.

Like the sound of that? Well, there will be a chance to get wet too, with the following taster sessions on offer. We tried a SUP lesson with Flow & Paddle a few weeks back from Sea Lanes and we can highly recommend it!

  • Aufguss Sauna sessions on the hour, every hour at Beach Box Sauna from 11:00am to 4.00pm. Pre-book your 2-hour slot here, or just drop in on the day (subject to availability) when they’ll have slots from 30mins for £5, 1 hour for £10, 2 hours for £15.
  • 11:00 – 11:30 Guided Sea Swim
  • 12:00 – 14:00 Stand Up Paddle Board taster sessions (subject to availability, sign up on the day).
  • 13:45 – 14:45 Endless Pool Taster sessions (subject to availability, sign up on the day).
