Become a creature of the dark
If you’ve been to the Booth Museum then you’ll be familiar with the feeling you’re being watched, as their floor-to-ceiling collection of weird and wonderful taxidermy fills the space. This Halloween, they’re giving you the chance to enter the mysterious world of animals that emerge in the dark, getting hands on with some of their collection. Discover how our eyes can play tricks on us by understanding the science of how things glow in the dark. From a special appearance from rescue bats to an eerie look at owl pellets (yes, really), it’s a great ghostly day out for all ages!

Give yourself some ghoul power

The Cult Milk legends are back with a workshop designed to give you, ahem, ghoul power as you create some Halloween-inspired nipple pasties for the occasion. For £22.15 you’ll have CM lead Amy on hand to guide you through how to create the perfect (non-edible) pasty magic, with all the materials included, too (there’s sequins galore!) – most people make two to three in the two-hour session. There’s a lovely bar and kitchen at the Signalman, so you can fuel your creativity with a (kindred) spirit or two…
Wednesday 26th October; 7pm; £22.15
Signalman, 76–78 Ditchling Rose, Brighton BN1 4QQ

Musical Mystical Bingo

If you find a spare tenner in your pocket and you fancy a try at bagging a freaky full house, head down to Komedia on Wednesday 31st October for a Halloween special of musical bingo. Yep, you guessed it… instead of calling out numbers, they play songs. We’re imagining ‘Thriller’ will be pretty high on their playlist… There’s a different theme for each round, so if you’re a bit of a music buff, this could be the game where you emerge a winner. Their DJs will take over the decks for a quick-fire medley of tunes while you mark your bingo cards, hopefully, all the way to a full house. There’s a whole lot of fun and prizes to be won, but Pat Sharp wasn’t available to join them…

Prepare for a fright flight

Ever fancied looking out over the dark city streets and hearing about its spooky history? Now’s your chance, as Ghost Walk of the Lanes have teamed up with the BA i360 to bring you an evening of fright flights. The city of Brighton & Hove wasn’t always such a picturesque place, so why not take to the skies to hear about its gruesome past and let the spirits of the city creep up on you. BOO! Be prepared to hear some spine-chilling stories about who (or what!) haunts the streets and beaches below, while you look down at the beautiful city by night. There’s a family-friendly flight, too, so your little ones don’t get too spooked. But for those that can handle it, the adult-only flight may well see the return of demonic clowns and other freaks from the Victorian funfair, as you creep through the horror maze and onto the pod, where horrific ghouls from the unsolved murders that took place on the West Pier Victorian funfair could come out for Halloween…

Yes, you guessed it, Bram’s Stoker’s chilling classic Dracula is coming to Brighton. True story theatre company have managed to combine physical, fast-paced storytelling with their unique bold style, so it’s one not to miss. If you’re local with a postcode starting BN2 5**, then, guess what, you get in for the bargain price of £10. We love this community spirit. In all senses of the word!
