As die-hard Wes Anderson fans*, we’re pretty excited about new cafe Oeuf and with good cause: owner Amber Sterck describes it as “Wes Anderson meets Parisian macaron shop”. Yep, we think we may have just found our new home from home.
If your mind has just conjured up a gorgeous sea of pastel tones, you’re on the right lines. Although Amber’s keeping pictures of the interior under wraps until it’s finished, she did reveal that the colour palette is a delicious concoction of mint green and gold. Swoon. You can tell that Amber’s done this before; in fact, she’s been running restaurants for 12 years, but this is her first solo venture.
“Hove had always been the dream and it’s all self-funded, so my heart and soul has gone into this place,” she told BOTI.
So what can we expect inside? Located on the former Planet India site (they still have their Brighton restaurant) on Third Avenue in Hove, the cafe will have a library lounge-cum-coffee bar with a restaurant and secret garden at the back. Guests can enjoy coffees (or grab one to go), an array of breakfast and brunch options – all diets catered for – and even a cheeky mimosa or four (just us?) on into the evening on some days. But it’s not just a cafe and bar, from 3rd October, Lara Sanjar’s Wild Renata Flowers floral design studio will have a pop-up shop at Oeuf, too.
We can’t wait to see how Amber has transformed the vast space, which is so damn big it’s taken a month just to paint the walls white. Still, roomy interior equals plenty of space for social distancing, which is pretty important in these weird times.
