join a three day party to celebrate brighton’s newest brewery

From craft beer can designs to kegs of the hoppy goodness, we’re spoilt for choice here in Brighton when it comes to beer. But there’s no such thing as too much choice, right? If beer is your jam then you’ll be chuffed to hear that the guys behind UnBarred Brewery are leaving their cuckoo brewing roots behind as they take on their first permanent site, right here in Brighton.

Currently Holler Brewery on Elder Place, UnBarred Brewery & Taproom will be bringing a new look, feel and collection of brews to the site, opening on Friday 23rd August with a three-day party. We love a local success story and this is one that warms our BOTI hearts, as Head Brewer Jordan Mower (the mysterious bloke in the pic below) started out from a shed in Hove, brewing for some international breweries. Now back to their local roots, they are bringing their brews to more people of Brighton, following their passion and ethos of “No rules brewing from the heart of Brighton.”

Starting with a two thousand litre brewhouse with six fermenters, they will be adding to these early next year and growing the UnBarred family with their brews and bringing the existing Holler team with them. We’re glad to hear it because we like that lot. There will be 15 taps and 2 cask lines for beer lovers and for sober sisters or those with less of a penchant for hop based pints, you’ll be able to tuck into their sodas made by the brewers on site. From non-alcoholic drinks that pack a flavoursome punch to beer cocktails (yes, that’s a thing), the UnBarred Taproom will be a great new hangout in the city.

You know how much we like a secret here at BOTI, so we’ll be the first to let you know more about their plans for a “secret garden”, as we’re excited to see how they bring their “relaxed space immersed in greenery” vision to life. They are big on local collaborations too, so they’ve got plans to bring some incredible weekend food pop-ups too, adding to their event plans that are already made up of beer tours, food pairings and tastings.

This is just the beginning for UnBarred, so we’ll see you down there for their launch weekend celebrations later this month, where they’ll be bringing guest breweries The Kernel and Brick Brewery, axe throwing from local legends Tribe and street food from Sussex specials The Herb Kitchen (with UnBarred beer recipes!), Kitgum Kitchen and Half Man Half Burger. And what’s a party without music, ey? They’ve got that side of things covered with Sunset Soul Sister on Friday 23rd, joined by Nelson Navarro and Giwha on Saturday 24th, with Kitgum Kitchen looking after food and music on Sunday 25th. A three-day party filled with fun and their infamous Tropic Soda and Mango Pale at their new digs? Cheers to that.
